Insight EMS Advantages

Carrier-class reliability: Keeping the network up and running is the first priority of all operations groups. In the rare event of an outage, the critical first step is to understand the circumstances leading to that event. The Insight EMS provides the flexible tools that simplify troubleshooting and problem solving. To ensure maximum reliability, the EMS has many powerful capabilities:

  • Call history reporting - To verify service delivery, call history reporting allows you to search call detail records. You can query the records based on information such as Automatic Number Identification (ANI), called party number, originating-line information and date/time. Based on your criteria, the EMS extracts the appropriate records and produces a web-based call history report.
  • Advanced alarm diagnostics - The Insight EMS hyper links all alarm summaries to context-sensitive online documentation. This tool describes alarms in full detail with suggestions for probable causes and remedies. The EMS also allows you to customize alarm response and escalation procedures specific to your organization, allowing personnel to respond appropriately under any circumstance.
  • Call trace - Once a network issue has been identified, you must move quickly find the source of the problem. By creating a trace filter, you can non-intrusively trace real calls based on ANI or called-party number. This tool captures information such as: SS7 messages received, call state information, call disconnect reason codes, resources allocated for a call, as well as, TCAP and route server protocol exchanges.
  • Inventory reports - In a large, dynamic network it can be difficult to track both the current state and past history of the equipment inventory. To simplify inventory handling and prevent potential issues, the EMS receives information in real time whenever switch configurations are changed. Reports can then be generated that verify the configuration of every switch in the network, as well as, hardware and software versions.
  • Performance management - The Insight EMS goes beyond typical "box-level" statistics to provide information that is critical to ensuring quality of service. By providing graphical and tabular reports, the EMS allows you to view your network based on numerous criteria, such as trunk group usage, average completed calls and call origination attempts.
  • Server health monitoring - Significant cost reductions can be realized by leveraging commercial computing platforms and taking advantage of their technology and scalability. However, if these platforms are not monitored properly, critical systems could fail without notice. To reduce this risk, the EMS continuously monitors critical system processes as well as disk, CPU and memory usage.
  • Performance threshold alarms - The EMS allows you to create multiple performance threshold alarms by simply selecting the statistic, choosing a threshold, and specifying a classification of the resulting alarm. By using this feature, performance and capacity trends can be identified before they become critical events.
